May 2011 - a playlist

 

It has been ages since I last posted a playlist, hasn’t it? It doesn’t mean I haven’t made any since my Valentine’s day playlist for tortured souls, I just haven’t been in the right mood to post them, but here is one. Somebody (who puts out great records that you should buy) made me an awesome playlist not long ago. I have been listening to it a lot and found about some great bands thanks to it, so I was reminded of the power of the mixtape and thought I’d share my latest with you. I know it’s already May and I’m supposed to be making summer mixes, but I felt like something calm and slightly melancholic, so I’m defying the norm. I’m sure a pop-punk summer playlist will follow soon.
The download includes a .pdf file with the cover that you can just print, fold and insert into a plastic sleeve. I’ve also added it to 8tracks for those who want to listen first. As usual, if you like the artists buy the records, go to their shows and buy them Jägermeister shots, they’re all rad.

It's that time of the year again (a playlist for cold weather)

It feels like every autumn/winter sees a new melancholic playlist/mix CD from me. This is this year’s. I don’t have any music on my computer at the moment, so I can only offer a spotify link.

It snowed yesterday. I hadn’t seen snow since I was living in Munich, and that mixed together with the fact that exams are about to start and I feel a bit overwhelmed about everything put me in a really melancholic mood. So, what did I do? Make a playlist to go with it, of course. I burnt it on a CD, made the cover you can see above and listened to it a million times. I officially declare it my revision CD.

2008: What I've been listening to

 

I have been complaining about end of the year lists for about 2 weeks now, when I realised that it is only now that I’m ready to make a 2007 list, not a year ago. That’s why this year I decided to make a playlist instead. These are not the best songs of 2008 and most of them definitely do not belong to what I consider to be the best albums of the year so far. It’s just a collection of songs released in 2008 that I have enjoyed a lot and listened to compulsively. They’re not meant to be in a certain order.

Qué Cursi!!!! - A mix CD

 

Here is a mix CD that I made for my cousin, who is not into the same music as me at all but will probably completely fall in love with some of these tracks. The cover and the name are an inside joke we’ve had since we were about five years old, when we would have really long telephone conversations about our favourite colour.

The other day I managed to finish an essay that I had been trying to write for weeks. After doing an all-nighter on a Saturday night for the first time in my life I was so happy and felt so liberated that I made a playlist, burnt it on a CD and listened to it a million times. It still makes me so happy that I want to spread the happiness by leaving it here for anybody who wants to download it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I am enjoying it.
