Pretty in pink is one of my favourite films

I’ve linked to this amazing embroidery project before, but this piece just blew my mind and stole my heart to the point that I’m hoping I can snatch it when it goes on sale. Everybody knows how important teenage films are in my life.

I wouldn't mind living in The King's Speech

I know I’m a bit late here, but I had totally forgotten to post about this film. I watched The King’s Speech (Tom Hooper, 2010) when it came out in my failed attempt to watch every film nominated for an Academy Award and it left me wanting a time machine (and a job in London, some money, etc.) so I could live in this house.

If you’re lucky enough to have a house to decorate (a complete luxury nowadays) and want to try this look, here are some similar wallpapers from Retrovilla and Farrow & Ball.

Marilyn Monroe's Niagara dress

Every time I watch a film I capture screen shots constantly, and as superficial as it sounds, a lot of the time those screen captures are of clothes or settings. I have decided to put these to good use by sharing them on the blog and finding where to buy similar items.

Ever since I can remember I’ve been fascinated by the pink dress Marilyn Monroe wears in Niagara (Henry Hathaway, 1953). Its colour appealed to 10-year-old me and its shape appeals to slightly older me. I still think that Marilyn has never looked better than in this film.
And those with the figure to pull it off with be delighted to know that Dixifried Clothing make an almost identical replica of it that looks just as amazing as the original.

Amazing, right? You can buy it on pinupgirlclothing.com for $96 dollars. Plus sizes are also available, which I think is amazing in such a figure-hugging cut.

Would you dare to wear this dress? I totally would if it had a circle skirt instead of a pencil one. I love the little bow on the top and the slightly off-shoulder sleeves, but I don’t think I’m ready to show my hips like that, especially not in fuchsia!
